In industry, an electrical failure doesn’t just stop production: it can put people and equipment at risk. Preventive maintenance is the most cost-effective way to avoid it. Here are five signs your installation needs attention.
1. Panels running hot
If a panel or load center feels hot to the touch or smells burnt, you have loose connections or overload. It’s one of the most common causes of electrical fires.
2. Frequent breaker trips
Breakers that trip again and again aren’t a nuisance: they warn of overcurrent, a short circuit or an incorrectly sized protection.
3. Flickering or voltage drops
Voltage variations damage motors, PLCs and sensitive equipment. They usually point to problems in the service entrance, wiring or load balancing.
4. Improvised installations
Temporary splices, un-ducted cables and “temporary” jumpers that became permanent are a hazard. Every installation must comply with current codes.
5. Over a year without inspection
An annual thermographic inspection catches hot spots and wear early, before they turn into unplanned downtime.
At De La Mar we design, build and maintain industrial electrical installations. If you spotted any of these signs, contact us for an assessment.
